10/30 through 12/04
Circle of Giving is partnering with the University YMCA
Theme: Homelessness and Poverty
Why: To learn about an important issue that affects numerous people in the current recession. Also, this is a great opportunity to volunteer outside of our familiar environment, and to improve our leadership skills while helping the community. There will be several leadership positions available before, during, and after the trip.
Activities: The schedule includes workshops, volunteering at food shelters and community centers, discussions, presentations, COG signature project, and… of course FUN!
How much: So far the cost is $385. We are working on grant applications that will hopefully allow us to lower the cost for every participant. Also, volunteering at COG fundraising events will help you lower your individual cost.
Interested? If you want more info on the trip, feel free to contact Neli Mottey (nelimottey@yahoo.com). If you already know that you will be taking part in the trip, email COG to request for an application OR download it here and give it to any COG board member, or bring it to the next meeting.
Applications deadline: The deadline is December 1st, 2009. Please note that space is limited and the participants will be interviewed and admitted on a first come first served basis.
01/09/2010 to 01/17/2010 @ Chicago, IL and Nearby Cities
